Opportunities for Growth

Bible Studies

On the 4th Sunday of each month, the Eisings host a Bible study at their house at 5363 Johnson Road. We begin with a potluck at 5:30, followed by a Bible study beginning about 6:45.

GEMS

GEMS stands for Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior. It is a program for girls from Grades1-8 that meets every other Thursday night (the same night as Cadets). A typical evening includes a Bible study geared to their age needs, a time of craft or badge work, and a snack time. The GEMS go on various outings, especially related to their badge work.

For more info, contact Lori VanHove at (810) 659-3819

Ladies Group

Ladies Group meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, from 5:00 to 8:30. We begin with working on quilts for the homeless and women's shelters, then eat together. Then about 7:00 we end with Bible study.

Softball

Every summer Good Shepherd fields a softball team that competes in a church softball league on Thursday nights.  Warm ups for the game start at 5:45 p.m. and game time is 6:30 p.m.  One of the requirements for participation in the league is that you attend Good Shepherd Church two times per month.  More importantly, we want to encourage you to be active in your walk with God.  We have a competitive league but we also like to have fun.  If you are interested in playing softball, this is a great oppotunity to do that and praise God at the same time.

We usually get a schedule in April and the league typically runs from May through mid-August with an all day tournament on Saturday at the end of the season.  I will post the schedule on the website when it is released.

Willowbrook Service

On the 3rd Sunday of each month, Good Shepherd leads a worship service at 2:30 at Willowbrook Manor at 4436 Beecher Road

Cadets

Cadets is a program for boys from Grades 1-8. It meets every other Thursday night at the church from 7:8:30. A typical evening includes a Bible study geared to their age needs, a time of craft or badge work, a snack time, and a time of recreation. The Cadet program is similar to the Scouting program, with badges that you work on, outdoor woodsy “guy” kind of activities, camping trips, derby cars, and camping and other activities with Cadets from other areas.
